Hackers trick Minecraft fans into infecting their computers with malware
Check Point specialists have discovered a large-scale cyberattack on Minecraft fans, as a result of which more than 1,500 players voluntarily installed malware on their computers. The attackers posted files disguised as cheats for the game on GitHub and artificially increased their rating using fake accounts to gain the trust of potential victims.

According to experts, the malware steals users' personal data, including Steam account data, Minecraft in-game currency, and information from Discord. In addition, the virus secretly takes screenshots of screens and sends them to the attackers. Code analysis revealed the presence of Russian-language artifacts, which indicates that the hackers may have come from the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet.

The incident once again reminds us of the dangers of downloading unofficial software, especially from unverified sources. Users are advised to exercise caution and download files only from trusted platforms to avoid such attacks.
