Grand Theft Auto VI Coming to Xbox Series S Without Delay

Rockstar Games has confirmed that the long-awaited GTA VI will be coming to Xbox Series S along with other platforms on May 26, 2026. After the release of the second trailer, which showed off the impressive next-gen graphics, players had concerns about the adaptation of the project for the younger version of the Microsoft console. However, the ability to add the title to the wishlist in the Xbox store dispelled doubts - Xbox Series S is officially presented among the available platforms.

Unlike Baldur's Gate III and Black Myth: Wukong, which temporarily became exclusive to PS5 due to difficulties with optimization for Xbox Series S, GTA VI will avoid a similar fate. At the same time, technical differences between the versions are inevitable: experts assume that on Xbox Series S the action game will function in 720p with an upscale to 900p or 1080p, which is noticeably lower than the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

For illustration, GTA 5, released in 2013, runs on Xbox Series S in 1440p and 30 FPS mode, but even this version sometimes experiences performance drops. Similar limitations are expected in The Witcher 4 from CD Projekt RED, where the younger Microsoft console will probably only have a 30 FPS mode, while more powerful platforms will provide 60 frames per second. Despite the technical compromises, the synchronous release of Grand Theft Auto VI on all platforms will be an important event for Xbox Series S owners.
