LG has finally ended support for its smartphones

LG Electronics has officially ended technical support for its line of mobile devices, shutting down FOTA update servers on June 29. This decision means a complete end to support for all previously released smartphones of the brand, including the ability to create backups through the proprietary LG Bridge program.
The news marks LG's final exit from the smartphone market, which the company announced back in 2021 under pressure from increased competition. At one time, the South Korean manufacturer was among the industry leaders, having distinguished itself with such innovative developments as the Nexus 5 - one of Google's most popular smartphones, as well as the world's first device with a 1440p screen. LG's latest original development was the experimental LG Wing with a unique rotating dual display design.

Despite leaving the market, the company continued to release operating system updates and security patches for existing users for three years. The final shutdown of the server infrastructure puts an end to LG's mobile activities, leaving owners of its devices without the ability to receive official updates and access to some proprietary services.
