AI Revolution: Sony and AMD Prepare Technological Breakthrough for PS6

Sony and AMD have announced a strategic partnership within the framework of Project Amethyst, aimed at integrating machine learning into the gaming technologies of the future. PlayStation architect Mark Cerny and AMD CEO Jack Huynh confirmed that the joint development is focused on creating a specialized architecture for ML computing and neural network algorithms that can dramatically improve graphics in real time.

The new approach will allow PlayStation 6 to use artificial intelligence for resolution upscaling, frame generation and ray tracing optimization with minimal impact on hardware resources. Some of these technologies are already available in the PS5 Pro in the form of the PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) system, but in the next generation they will be significantly developed thanks to the integration of promising FSR Redstone solutions.



Experts suggest that the technologies being developed can be used not only in a stationary console, but also in a portable PlayStation device, which, according to rumors, will be able to run games at the level of the PS5. Effective machine learning algorithms will be a key factor in ensuring high performance of the mobile gadget. Project Amethyst marks a new era in console technology, where AI will play a central, rather than supporting, role in shaping the next-generation gaming experience.
