The Last of Us Season 3 Will Premiere in 2027

HBO Max management has officially confirmed the release dates for Season 3 of the cult series The Last of Us. As the head of the streaming service Casey Bloys said in an interview with Variety, the premiere is scheduled for 2027. Filming will begin this summer, but the final format of the season has not yet been determined - showrunner Craig Mazin is considering options with both one long season and two standard ones.



The project has faced changes in the creative team - the developer of the original game Neil Druckmann and screenwriter Halley Gross left the team, focusing on other work. Despite this, HBO Max expresses full confidence in Mazin, under whose leadership the second season received 16 Emmy nominations, including the prestigious categories of "Best Drama Series" and awards for acting. The results of the award will be announced on September 14, which may affect the further development of the franchise.

The third season is expected to continue adapting the events of the second part of the game, although the exact plot details are currently being kept secret. The gap between seasons is explained by the complexity of production and the need to carefully develop the script in the new conditions.
