GTA 5 officially released in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates after 12 years of waiting
Twelve years after its worldwide release, the cult game Grand Theft Auto 5 has finally become available for legal purchase in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Publisher Rockstar Games was able to secure the game's release in these countries by agreeing to an age rating of 21+, which allowed it to avoid content censorship.

One of the key conditions was the disabling of the casino function in GTA Online, which is contrary to local laws. This compromise allowed Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, to reach an agreement with regulators and release both the main game and its online component. Experts suggest that this decision is related to preparations for the upcoming release of GTA 6, which the developers want to make as accessible as possible to players around the world.

Despite the long-term ban, GTA 5 remained popular among Middle Eastern gamers who purchased it through other regions. Now users from Saudi Arabia and the UAE can legally buy the standard or Premium version of the game for PC and consoles, receiving full access to the content, with the exception of blocked elements.
