Microsoft Stops Selling Movies and TV Shows on Xbox
Microsoft has officially ended support for the service for selling and renting movies and TV series in the Microsoft Store for Xbox console owners. The changes came into effect on July 18 without prior announcements, which users found out about on their own. Previously, Xbox was positioned as a multimedia center with the ability to purchase movie and TV content, but now this function is completely disabled.

At the same time, all previously purchased content will remain available for viewing in the user library. However, according to Microsoft's updated policy, license owners will not be able to transfer purchased content to other platforms or request a refund. As an alternative, the company recommends using third-party services such as Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

This decision marks Microsoft's final departure from the strategy of promoting Xbox as a universal media center, which was a key feature of the last generation of consoles. Now the company will focus exclusively on the gaming direction and the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
