CD Projekt RED Doesn't Aim to Beat The Witcher 3 in New Part of Series

Developers from CD Projekt RED shared their vision for the upcoming fourth part of The Witcher, noting that they are not going to compete with the legendary The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The project's lead writer Philipp Weber explained in an interview that the team is focused on creating a worthy sequel, rather than trying to surpass the previous success.
Weber emphasized that the approach to developing The Witcher 4 will be based on the same principles as when creating the third part - attention to detail, high-quality storytelling and respect for the source material. At the same time, the game will be a continuation, not a repetition of the past, with new ideas and fresh solutions. The developers intend to find a balance between preserving the spirit of the series and introducing innovations, without setting themselves the task of "surpassing" The Witcher 3.

The first reactions to the announced trailer have already sparked discussions among fans, especially regarding the choice of the main character. Many expressed skepticism about Ciri as a protagonist, recalling her storyline from previous games. CD Projekt RED will have to not only create a quality sequel, but also convince doubting players that the chosen direction is correct. The exact release date of The Witcher 4 has not yet been announced, which gives the team time to finalize the project taking into account community feedback.
