Former Rockstar North CTO Defends Criticized MindsEye
Obbe Vermeil, former technical director of Rockstar North, suddenly supported the game MindsEye, which received mostly negative ratings from players (37% positive reviews on Steam). Despite technical problems, critical remarks on the implementation of missions and numerous bugs, Vermeil told on the social network X about the complete completion of the project and the pleasure he received.
Former Rockstar North CTO Defends Criticized MindsEye
Created by the studio Build a Rocket Boy under the leadership of Leslie Benzies, former producer of GTA 5, MindsEye did not live up to the audience's expectations, facing criticism after the release in June. However, Vermeil highlighted the strengths of the title - a high-quality plot, well-developed characters, professional voice acting, cinematic cutscenes and atmosphere. At the same time, he acknowledged the weak side of the missions and the presence of technical shortcomings, and also noted that the inflated price tag of $60 instead of the expected $40 and comparisons with GTA negatively affected the perception of the project.
An unconventional assessment from an experienced developer with inside knowledge of the industry offers an alternative perspective on a controversial project, demonstrating that even critically panned games can find fans among professionals.
