GTA Online to Introduce Age Verification for Players

Reputable insider Tez2 reported on the plans of the Grand Theft Auto Online developers to implement a user age verification system. The update, which will appear soon, will be distributed in stages in different regions, but the exact timing and order of implementation have not yet been disclosed.
According to the insider, players who have not passed age verification will face restrictions in access to some functions. Possible restrictions include disabling text chat, in-game messages via phone, and the Snapmatic application used to create and publish virtual photos.
The initiative of Rockstar Games may be associated with tightening regulation of online platforms in different countries. In particular, the Online Safety Act recently came into force in the UK, obliging services to implement mechanisms for verifying the age of users. Similar measures were previously taken on Reddit and Discord, although users have found ways to bypass the restrictions, including unusual methods such as using photo mode in Death Stranding.
