New iPhone cameras will be able to compete with human vision
According to the insider Fixed Focus, who published a post on Weibo, Apple is testing its own sensor for the cameras of future iPhones. If the development is successful, the main advantage will be a record dynamic range - up to 20 stops, which is significantly higher than the performance of modern smartphones with their 10-13 stops. For comparison, the human eye is able to distinguish details in the range of 20-30 stops, which brings the potential capabilities of new cameras closer to natural vision.

Earlier, in Apple's patent documentation for July 2025, a sensor based on a multi-layer silicon structure was discovered. Its design includes several levels of light capture, as well as a built-in noise reduction system, which theoretically will achieve unprecedented image quality. If this technology is implemented, iPhone users will be able to take pictures with detail and color rendition as close as possible to how the human eye sees the world.
