The Sims 5 Will Not Be Released - EA Will Focus On The Sims 4

Electronic Arts has officially confirmed that it has no plans to develop The Sims 5. In an interview with Variety, EA Entertainment CEO Laura Miele explained that the studio does not want to deprive players of the progress they have made in The Sims 4 over the years, including the extensive collection of expansions. Over the decade of the game's existence, more than 85 content packs have been released, and moving on to a new part would mean losing all the materials purchased by users.

Instead of the fifth part of the series, EA will focus on developing a multiplayer project based on the universe of The Sims, including various game modes and mobile versions. In parallel, work is underway on a film adaptation of the franchise. The decision to abandon The Sims 5 was announced back in September 2024, when EA Vice President Kate Gorman announced that The Sims 4 would continue to be supported with new expansions, packs, and updates. Maxis will remain the main content developer for the current version of the game.
