Tesla Sets Record for Longest Self-Driving Driving Range
The company demonstrated the capabilities of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system by publishing a video of a record-breaking run. The electric car covered the route from San Francisco to Los Angeles without a driver, covering almost 580 km.
The trip took seven hours, taking into account a short stop for recharging at a Supercharger station. According to Tesla, these results were made possible by the FSD improvements made over the past year. Neural network algorithms have become more efficient at processing data, and the system components have been optimized.
Despite the impressive level of autonomy, FSD technology has not yet been recognized as a full-fledged autopilot. The driver must be behind the wheel, and the built-in camera monitors his readiness to take control if necessary.
