Chinese users crash Hollow Knight: Silksong's Steam rating due to poor localization

The long-awaited release of Hollow Knight: Silksong was accompanied by a barrage of criticism from Chinese gamers. Over 30,000 reviews appeared on Steam during the first weekend after the project's release, and the vast majority of them were negative. The main reason for dissatisfaction was the quality of the translation into Chinese, which fans called catastrophic. According to them, the text has lost its original style and is more reminiscent of "an Elizabethan school play."

According to the game's credits, two people were responsible for the localization - Hertzz and Finn Wu. The former was already involved in a scandal: even before the release, he published excerpts of the text online, violating a non-disclosure agreement. After a wave of criticism, he began deleting his old posts, but this did not save the situation. Players are sure that it is impossible to fix the translation with partial edits and a complete replacement of the team is required.

The creators of the title from Team Cherry have already acknowledged the problem and promised to release a corrected localization in the coming weeks. However, Hollow Knight: Silksong has received extremely positive reviews in other languages, and overall the project has been well received by the international community.
