The Last of Us Gets a '90s Retro Demake, and It's Available for Free

Indie author DANEGUSTA has released a parody demake of TLoU, stylized as games from the early 90s. The project can be downloaded for free, and its visual design and atmosphere are made in the style of classic titles for the Sega Mega Drive.

The main roles in the unusual version went to characters named Eliana and Zhorel, who are clearly inspired by the images of Ellie and Joel, but at the same time declared by the developer to be completely fictional. The plot revolves around the exploration of an abandoned hospital: the girl needs to collect items for survival, look for Zhorel and bypass the infected, who, when threatened, have to be destroyed with weapons.

Despite the humorous tone and ironic elements, the game retains an alarming mood, and fans of the original will find many references in it. The demake is distinguished by an unexpectedly high quality of execution and a careful approach to the retro style.
