The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro passed rigorous durability tests.
American journalist Chance Miller showed videos in which the new iPhone 17 and 17 Pro were subjected to rigorous tests. One device was dropped onto various surfaces at various angles, while the other was tested for scratch resistance.

In the first video, a robotic arm slammed the iPhone 17 Pro onto various types of flooring, simulating real-world drops. The smartphone survived all the impacts. In the second video, the iPhone 17 was tested with the new Ceramic Shield 2 screen protector: its screen was scratched with a special tool, but the display remained undamaged.

The journalist did not specify the source of the materials, but judging by the quality of the footage and the methodology, these could have been Apple's own videos. Independent testing is still to come, and it is these that will finally confirm the durability of the new devices.
