The Mafia III actor admitted he wanted to quit the industry after the failure of MindsEye.
Alex Hernandez, known for his role in Mafia III, revealed on the FRVR podcast that after the release of the action game MindsEye, he seriously considered never playing video games again. He admitted to enjoying the process of working on Build a Rocket Boy and was inspired by the project, but after its release on June 10, 2025, his excitement gave way to disappointment. Immediately after the first reviews appeared, the actor felt a lot of pressure, as players directly attributed the game's criticism to him.

According to Hernandez, he experienced similar feelings back when Mafia III launched, which also launched in a rough state and was only able to take shape through patches and expansions. This repetition of history made him wonder if he was "part of the problem." Despite this, his wife helped him cope with his thoughts of ending his gaming career.
Hernandez emphasized that he holds no ill will toward criticizing players, as they had every right to be dissatisfied after spending money on a failed product. However, he acknowledged that some online comments went beyond the pale.

MindsEye received harsh reviews for its weak storyline, poor gameplay mechanics, and technical glitches. Build a Rocket Boy founder Leslie Benzies, however, claims the project's failure was due to internal sabotage.
