Forza Horizon 6 will take players to Japan, but the entire country won't be included in the game.

Forza Horizon 6 was announced at Tokyo Game Show 2025, and shortly afterward, Xbox Wire shared the first details of the project. Art Director Don Arceta and Japanese Cultural Consultant Kyoko Yamashita revealed the virtual reality experience of the Land of the Rising Sun.

According to them, Japan has long been a dream of series fans, as its car culture is renowned worldwide. However, the developers needed time to gain experience and create tools to accurately recreate the atmosphere. The game plans to showcase the contrast between traditional temples and modern neon streets, where a workshop, arcade, and tuning shop can coexist under the same roof.

The creators do not intend to recreate the entire territory of Japan in the game. Instead, they will combine several distinctive regions into a single virtual space to reflect both the natural diversity and the life of the metropolis. The team personally visited the selected locations to gather references and materials for the art direction.

Particular attention is paid to Japanese automotive culture, which embraces everything from compact kei cars and city vans to drift sports cars and high-performance race cars. Tuning, considered an integral part of the country's automotive scene, will also play a prominent role.

A separate area of work is the seasonal system. In the new game, the developers want players to experience changes not only visually but also through sound, lighting, and the cars' handling. Details on how this will be implemented are promised to be revealed early next year.

Forza Horizon 6 will release in 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, available immediately on Xbox Game Pass and featuring Play Anywhere support. The game will also be released on PlayStation 5 at a later date.
