Activision may be working on Prototype remasters – strange updates spotted on Steam

The Prototype games unexpectedly received fresh patches on Steam, although Activision provided no explanation or published a changelog. However, users have already discovered several intriguing details that have fueled rumors of possible remasters.

Initially, players noticed that the updates broke the fan-made PrototypeFix mod, designed to run the games on modern systems. However, some users claim that after the update, both Prototype games began working normally without the patch. Another unexpected change was the new end credits: Iron Galaxy, known for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 remasters, appeared, along with a mention of non-existent Ubisoft Connect versions.

These findings have sparked renewed talk of remasters for the duology. The games were last released in slightly enhanced form on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2015 as part of the Biohazard Bundle. The franchise also received additional attention after insider reports in April revealed that Activision was working on a sequel, which would once again star Alex Mercer and take place in New York City.
