Sandfall Interactive admitted that they didn't expect such success for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

French studio Sandfall Interactive said it was overwhelmed by the results of its debut project, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which sold over five million copies in six months. As the developers told Polygon, the team never expected their first game to receive such rave reviews and generate such interest from the audience. According to COO François Meurisse, expectations were more modest—the developers were hoping for a decent release and moderate sales. However, after the Metacritic scores were published, a real euphoria reigned within the studio.

This success inspired Sandfall Interactive to continue working on the project. The team is currently working on a major update that will add new locations, costumes, and bosses to the game. The DLC will be free and is scheduled to release in the coming months. The studio has no plans to expand, believing its small team is ideal for creating original projects like Expedition 33.
