Behind the Scenes of GTA V: A Player Shows What Happens in Cutscenes Off-Camera

The gaming industry relies on a multitude of tricks and technical gimmicks hidden behind impressive visuals. Recently, one player took a peek behind the scenes of Grand Theft Auto V and revealed just how inventively Rockstar Games exploited the limitations of the hardware of its time.

User X, nicknamed Lucas7yoshi_RS, disabled the fixed camera in GTA V cutscenes and discovered that chaos was unfolding just outside the frame. To reduce the system load, the developers employed a host of clever tricks: characters jumping out of planes land not on the ground but literally in mid-air; characters in scenes fall beneath the map, instantly disappear or transform into other NPCs; and sometimes simply pass through walls, returning to the frame in a new form.

Such visual tricks are inevitable even in modern games, and according to former Rockstar employees, the sixth installment in the series will also be full of similar technical compromises. GTA VI is expected to run at 30 frames per second on next-gen consoles, maintaining the game's signature balance between realism, performance, and spectacle.
