Sam Fisher returns: Netflix releases animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch

After years of anticipation for a new project about Sam Fisher, Splinter Cell fans finally got the chance to see the character again—albeit not in video game form. Netflix premiered the animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, unexpectedly arriving without any prior promotion or critical acclaim.

At the time of release, there were no professional or audience reviews available on review aggregators. Only GameSpot published a short piece, calling the show a reminder that Ubisoft has yet to decide on the franchise's direction, though the author considered the series a good option for evening viewing.

Deathwatch focuses on an aging Fisher, who is forced to return to duty and train a new agent, while facing yet another massive conspiracy. All eight episodes are available on Netflix at once, each with Russian subtitles.
