Fans are confident that fresh details about the next Grand Theft Auto game will emerge as early as November 2025. This anticipation was sparked by a cryptic announcement from Game Informer, which hinted that the upcoming release would compel fans to "sign up for a subscription". The community assumed this was specifically about the Rockstar franchise, as the publication had previously published exclusive materials about GTA V and GTA IV.

The developers last spoke about the project in May 2025, when the second trailer was released. Then, the studio revealed the names of the two main characters—Lucia and Jason—whose life in the criminal underworld proves to be full of surprises and conflicts.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Initially, the release was expected in late 2025, but after the second trailer was released, publisher Take-Two Interactive announced a delay, citing the need to complete the final stages of development.
