Rumor: Rockstar to tighten security measures for GTA 6 reviewers

Following a major leak in 2022, which saw over ninety videos from an early version of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaked online, Rockstar Games is rumored to have decided to restrict access to the game as much as possible during its final stages. According to insider Detective Seeds, the developers intend to implement unprecedented security measures to prevent even journalists and content creators from publishing materials until official approval.

Sources claim that Rockstar will organize closed play sessions, inviting only select media representatives and content creators. They will be able to spend several days with the game under the exclusive supervision of publisher employees. This form of testing will allow the studio to prevent any further leaks and maintain complete control over which footage or gameplay details are published.

According to the insider, such strict measures will create difficulties for preparing video reviews, as processing and transferring large files will require additional oversight from Rockstar. At the same time, this approach could play a role in the marketing campaign: limited access will give the event the status of exclusivity and heighten the sense of significance of the upcoming release.

Detective Seeds, which has previously shared reliable information about the project, also believes that GTA 6's launch could be delayed again—this time to fall 2026. Such a move would align with the predictions of insider Tom Henderson, who suggested that the May release might not happen. If the delay is confirmed, other publishers will likely adjust their schedules to avoid competition with the biggest release of the decade.

The official release date remains the same—May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version has not yet been announced, but, as is Rockstar tradition, it is expected later.
