Voice acting in games often poses a real challenge for actors, and Silent Hill 5 was no exception. Japanese actress Konatsu Kato, who voiced and portrayed the main character Hinako, admitted that the recording process was emotionally draining and nearly drove her insane.

According to Kato, working on the game required tremendous concentration and constant re-recording of the same scenes. The actress had to repeatedly change her intonation and even slightly adjust her lines to convey the character's various emotional states. Ultimately, she began to lose touch with the character and lost track of where Hinako was in the story, what she was doing, and what she was feeling at any given moment.

The actress admitted that she broke down in tears several times right in the studio and felt completely devastated. With each passing day, her immersion in the character deepened, and her dissociation intensified to the point where she felt like she was losing her mind.

Fans of the series have noted that Silent Hill f's unique narrative approach may have added a particular challenge. The game features multiple playthroughs and a New Game+, which significantly alter the dialogue and emotional tone of certain scenes. This approach adds layers to the story, but also significantly complicates the actors' work, who must convey different nuances of the same state.
