EA announced the closure of The Sims Mobile – servers will be shut down in January 2026.
Electronic Arts, along with Maxis and Firemonkeys, confirmed that the mobile version of The Sims, launched in March 2018, will be shutting down. The project's servers will be shut down on January 20, 2026, after which it will be impossible to play, as all saves and user progress are stored exclusively in cloud storage.
The shutdown will be phased. The game will receive a final update on October 20, and the following day, it will be removed from the App Store and Google Play. Those who downloaded the simulator will still be able to access it through their personal library. Effective immediately, the developers will disable in-game purchases: users will no longer be able to purchase packs or spend real money. All earned resources—SimCash, Simoleons, and Tickets—can be used until the final shutdown.

Shortly before the shutdown, on January 6, 2026, the developers will remove all restrictions on the build and create-a-sim modes, giving players free access to all content, regardless of their Sims' level.
EA has not specified the reasons for The Sims Mobile's closure. However, the publisher will continue to support the other mobile version of the series, The Sims FreePlay, which remains available and receives regular updates.
