Capcom is preparing a Resident Evil 0 remake – the first details have been revealed

Capcom continues to reimagine its iconic horror franchises and, according to insiders, has been working on a new version of Resident Evil 0 for some time. MP1st sources claim the project has a working title of "Chamber," after the surname of the main character, Rebecca Chambers. Development has been underway for several years: back in 2024, the studio began recording voiceovers and motion capture sessions, which are being handled by Beyond Capture Studios, the company behind Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6.

One of the key roles is rumored to be played by John McClaren, best known for his portrayal of Peter Quill in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos Montreal. He is believed to be playing the original's second protagonist, Billy Cohen.

Journalists also report that the remake's script will be significantly expanded. The opening sequence, set on a train, will introduce a new character—a conductor who was absent from the 2002 version. Additionally, the game will introduce a mysterious figure well-versed in the events unfolding in the Arklay Mountains, which should add depth and intrigue to the story.

While Capcom hasn't made any official announcements yet, sources believe Resident Evil 0 Remake will release after Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which is expected in the first quarter of 2027. The prequel is expected to release around 2028.
