FromSoftware has delayed Elden Ring for Switch 2 to 2026 due to performance issues
The Nintendo Switch 2 release of Elden Ring, originally scheduled for late 2025, has been officially postponed. FromSoftware announced that the port of the game will not be released this year due to developers failing to achieve stable performance on the new console. The launch is now expected in 2026.
The studio explained that this decision was driven by a desire to bring the version's quality to a level that meets player expectations. The team will focus primarily on optimization—a challenging task, given that Elden Ring continues to generate frame rate issues even on powerful platforms.

Journalists who tested an early build of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for Switch 2 back in August noted serious performance issues. They reported that in some scenes, the game would transform into a "slideshow," making it virtually impossible to play.
FromSoftware apologized to fans, emphasizing that the additional time will allow the team to thoroughly polish the port and address all key technical issues. Despite the delay, interest in the Switch 2 version remains high, especially given rumors that the game will retain all the features of the original and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
