YouTube imposes strict age restrictions on violent gaming videos
Starting November 17, 2025, YouTube will begin enforcing new age censorship rules for video game content. According to the updated creator guidelines, restrictions will apply to videos featuring game reviews and walkthroughs that feature realistic human characters and emphasize scenes of violence against non-combatants. This will particularly affect popular series like Grand Theft Auto and other titles with realistic graphics.
When determining the level of violence, YouTube will consider the overall duration of such scenes, even if they are presented in short clips, as well as their context. Age labels will be applied when violent footage is the central element of the video or is specifically highlighted from other content.

The company noted that the new rules also apply to existing content. Videos that violate the guidelines may be removed or age-restricted, but the channels themselves will not be blocked. Creators are encouraged to edit their content using built-in cropping and blurring tools.
Furthermore, YouTube is reviewing its stance on gambling. These will now include projects that utilize elements with monetary value, including skins and NFTs. Advertising materials related to casinos and similar services will be available only to users over the age of eighteen.
