Red Dead Redemption is back: the remaster is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch 2, and mobile devices
After Rockstar Games delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI to November 2026, fans were met with little enthusiasm. However, the studio didn't leave audiences disappointed and unveiled a new edition of the classic Western, Red Dead Redemption, first released in 2010.
The remastered version will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, the second version of the Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms. Owners of digital copies for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, which remains supported via backward compatibility on modern consoles, will be able to upgrade to the new edition at no additional cost.
The game won't feature any new content, but it will be adapted to the capabilities of current hardware. PS5 and Xbox Series X will feature enhanced graphics, HDR, 4K resolution, and stable 60 frames per second. Thanks to DLSS technology, a similar level of performance is expected on Switch 2.
Information on mobile versions is currently limited. The published images show that the interface has been redesigned specifically for touchscreens. However, the description indicates that the game will only be available to Netflix subscribers on iOS and Android, which may be a barrier for some audiences.
The remastered version of Red Dead Redemption will be released on December 2nd. The updated version will also become available on the same day as a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription.
