Black Ops 7 has received record-low Metacritic scores

The latest installment of Call of Duty faced unexpectedly harsh criticism: Black Ops 7's user rating on Metacritic dropped to 1.6 out of 10, making it the lowest-rated game in the series' history. It even fell short of 2023's Modern Warfare 3, which scored 2.3, and trailed the disastrous Concord, which lasted only two weeks after its release and closed with a 1.7 rating.

Interestingly, despite the harsh user reviews, journalists were much more favorable to the new game, giving it an average score of 84 out of 100. Despite the criticism, Black Ops 7, which released on November 14 on PC and consoles, continues to be actively discussed. The VK Play editorial team has already shared their impressions of the story campaign and was not satisfied with it.

Negative reviews are related not only to the quality of the game itself, but also to the fact that users noticed the use of generative AI in the creation of some visual elements. Players were particularly offended by the appearance of artificially generated images in the "calling cards" of the story mode and in the final mission. The developers, however, make no secret of their use of such technologies, which has only fueled the controversy surrounding the game.
