The actor who voiced Desmond in Assassin's Creed only learned of the character's death after the game's release
The character of Desmond Miles from the original Assassin's Creed trilogy still evokes strong emotions among fans of the series, and his fate remains one of the most controversial topics in the fan community. Now it turns out that the unexpected outcome affected not only players but also the man who voiced the character.

Nolan North, who voiced Desmond, recalled moments from working on the trilogy and tried to guess his characters' lines in an episode of the YouTube channel Fall Damage. Among the lines, he included Desmond's utterance, which turned out to be the final one in his story. The actor noted that during recording, he didn't realize he was voicing Miles's death scene and only learned of the character's fate after the release, after seeing the discussions on social media. He was surprised that the climax lacked the emotional accents typical of such episodes.
North later revealed that, early in development, Ubisoft considered a longer-term storyline, envisioning eight or nine installments with Desmond as the central character. However, these plans apparently changed during the trilogy's development. Previously, the creative director of Assassin's Creed III stated that the series was originally intended to end with Miles's story, but the commercial success of the previous games forced the studio to rework the script and leave the door open for future sequels.
