Although the release of the new Witcher game is still several years away, CD Projekt RED continues to share details from the early stages of development. This time, the studio's CEO, Michal Nowakowski, discussed how the team was influenced by the success of Baldur's Gate 3, which became one of the most talked-about games of recent years.

According to Nowakowski, the team carefully studied many of Larian Studios' decisions, but is not considering directly copying them. The studio intends to build on the traditions established by The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 and focus on its own approach to worldbuilding while maintaining a commitment to innovation. The developers emphasize that they are not aiming to release the same product with more modern graphics, but rather to move forward, building on their own creative identity.

Nowakowski noted that Baldur's Gate 3 had a strong influence on the team, particularly in terms of the depth of interaction with the environment. However, he says that only the studio itself can create a game in the style of Larian, so The Witcher 4 will follow its own path, using inspiration only as a guide, but not as a template.
