Analysts have calculated that former PlayStation exclusives have sold over 43 million copies on Steam

Releasing PlayStation games on PC once seemed like a pipe dream, but after Sony's shift in strategy, the flow of former exclusives on Steam has become stable, and the financial returns have been impressive. Alinea Analytics has released a consolidated report on the distribution of PlayStation Studios titles on PC, and the numbers demonstrate the scale of the success.

Analysts have calculated that former PlayStation exclusives have sold over 43 million copies on Steam

According to analysts, the combined sales of all former Sony exclusives on Steam have exceeded 43 million copies. Helldivers 2 is the clear leader, selling over 12.7 million copies. Horizon Zero Dawn follows close behind, with around 4.5 million sales, and God of War rounds out the top three, surpassing 4.2 million. Interestingly, Days Gone surpassed Marvel's Spider-Man, earning 3.4 million customers compared to the superhero action game's 2.7 million. Sony's total revenue from all PC releases approached $1.5 billion, or approximately $1.2 billion including Valve's commission.

The report emphasizes that the initial wave of interest in ports was much stronger. Sales of recent releases have shown a noticeable decline: God of War Ragnarok brought in $45 million, while Marvel's Spider-Man 2 only brought in $32 million. Experts believe Sony should reduce the gap between console and PC releases to 6-12 months to maintain high demand while maintaining exclusivity for PlayStation 5 owners.

Alinea Analytics concluded its study by citing Bloodborne, which remains exclusive to PlayStation 4. It has sold over 9 million copies, further fueling the debate over the lack of a PC version.
