Xbox Series production will be ramped up in the year of GTA 6's release, with media reporting large-scale preparations

According to a Reuters investigation, Microsoft is preparing to significantly expand Xbox console production ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. According to the publication, the company's partners are already taking steps to increase production. Foxconn is seeking permission to produce nearly five million Xbox devices annually, including consoles and accessories, while Luxshare plans to produce up to 4.5 million consoles annually at facilities in Vietnam starting in 2026.

Windows Central editor Jez Corden noted that such measures appear entirely logical. Microsoft hopes to use the release of GTA 6, scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as a powerful boost to sales of its devices. This is especially true for the Xbox Series S—the most affordable console, which could be the most affordable way to play the highly anticipated action movie.

This is why the company is striving to eliminate any disruptions in device availability in warehouses and at retail. Meanwhile, Microsoft is already working on the next generation of Xbox. Rumors suggest the future model will be high-performance, significantly more expensive than the current lineup, and will offer support for third-party digital stores.

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games remains silent after revealing the second GTA 6 trailer, revealing no new gameplay information.
