Director Guillermo del Toro called God of War one of the most cinematic games
In a new episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the renowned filmmaker behind Pan's Labyrinth and Frankenstein revealed himself to be an avid gamer and singled out the latest chapters of the God of War franchise as among the best video games ever made. He described God of War (2018) and Ragnarok as exceptionally cinematic and technologically advanced projects, comparable in production value to big-budget films. The director was particularly impressed by the confrontation between Kratos and Baldur, which he compared to the fight scenes from Peaky Blinders.

The Mexican filmmaker also listed such iconic titles as BioShock, Death Stranding, Metal Gear Solid, Left 4 Dead, and Red Dead Redemption 2 among his favorites. He singled out Shadow of the Colossus specifically, calling it an absolute masterpiece.
