A Fallout 4 developer shared his ideas for what Fallout 5 could be
Fans have been talking about a fifth Fallout game for years, but Bethesda is currently focused on other projects and support for Fallout 76. This, however, hasn't stopped former and current developers from reflecting on the future of the iconic series and imagining its possible future.
World artist Joshua Jay, who worked on Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, discussed what elements he'd like to see in a potential Fallout 5. He emphasized that he's not involved in the new game's development, but he has his own vision for what players might be missing in the next chapter of the post-apocalyptic saga.

He believes the series would benefit from the addition of highly customizable vehicles. Jay envisions this system as a cross between the shipbuilding of Starfield and the wild engineering solutions of Crossout. He also believes that settlement and camp construction could benefit from more flexible and well-thought-out mechanics, giving players more freedom and development options. He said power armor deserves special attention, as he hopes it will be more than just a piece of equipment, but a fully-fledged object for detailed assembly and upgrading.
When exactly such ideas will be realized remains a mystery. Bethesda plans to return to Fallout only after completing work on The Elder Scrolls VI, the release date for which is currently unknown.
