For nearly a decade, Deus Ex fans have been awaiting a continuation of Adam Jensen's story, but Eidos Montreal is in no rush to return to the cyberpunk saga. The studio is focusing its efforts on an entirely different project, which, according to leaks, takes the developers into the world of cosmic horror.

According to Insider Gaming, the team is developing a new game based on the cult Alien franchise. The project is in early production and is described as an action-adventure game reminiscent of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but starring xenomorphs. The story takes place on an abandoned orbital station, where the main character, an engineer named Aubrey, must not only hide from alien monsters but also confront armed military personnel, solve puzzles, and utilize acrobatics. Particular attention is being paid to enemy artificial intelligence, which will adapt to the user's playstyle and respond to their tactical decisions.

Sources claim that development on this horror game began around 2020, and over the years, the project has changed hands several times. It was long believed to have been cancelled, but in reality, the game was simply passed between teams until it landed at Eidos Montreal. During this time, the budget grew significantly, rumored to have increased from approximately $30 million to $75 million.

Internal materials also indicate that other important characters will appear in the plot. Among them is Ryuzo, considered a possible antagonist, and Ripley 8, a clone of Ellen Ripley from the classic film series. The developers are reportedly interested in casting Sigourney Weaver as the character, but a deal with the actress has not yet been reached.

The studio expects to release the game in 2028. Although the release is still a long way off, sources close to the development assure that the project is developing steadily and is in good shape.
