Dead Island 3 is officially in production, with a release date expected in 2028

The first confirmed details about the future of the Dead Island series have emerged. Dambuster Studios is indeed working on a third installment of the zombie action game, although the project is still in its early stages.

This information emerged thanks to Dambuster Studios' financial report for the 2024–2025 fiscal year, which was reviewed by dataminer Timur222. The document indicates that the team that previously released Homefront: The Revolution and Dead Island 2 has already begun work on Dead Island 3. Nearly all of the studio's employees, with the exception of management and administrative staff, are involved in the game.

According to the same information, the sequel is scheduled for release between the first and second quarters of 2028. The developers emphasize that the project is still in its early stages: key gameplay systems are being developed, characters are being fleshed out, the game world is being created, and the plot is being laid. Studio representatives have previously hinted that the events of the new installment will take place outside of Los Angeles.
