Battlefield 6 online play on Steam has dropped by more than 80% in just two months
Two months after Battlefield 6's release on Steam, the shooter experienced a sharp decline in player activity. While the average daily online player count at its October launch reached approximately 747,000, this figure has now dropped to around 120,000-140,000, representing a loss of more than four-fifths of its audience.
The decline wasn't sudden. By the end of October, the number of active players had dropped to 320,000, but the release of the first season temporarily revived interest, with online numbers jumping back to nearly 550,000. This surge proved short-lived: the player base then began a steady decline, eventually returning to its current levels.

It's noteworthy that neither major patches aimed at refining key mechanics nor marketing campaigns were able to significantly improve the situation. Limited-time free access and Black Friday discounts had virtually no impact on online player dynamics, suggesting deeper issues with player retention.
Battlefield 6 is available not only on Steam, but also on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, as well as on the EA App and Epic Games Store. Exact data for other platforms is not disclosed, but the trend observed on Steam is likely typical for them as well.

As of today, the shooter has accumulated approximately 290,000 user reviews on Steam, of which just over 69% are positive. Players most often express dissatisfaction with instability after updates, the questionable implementation of the battle royale mode, and controversial changes to game modes.
Battlefield 6 was released on PC and current-generation consoles and sold over seven million copies in the first three days after its release. However, according to statistics, the project failed to maintain initial audience interest.
