Bethesda has assured that development of The Elder Scrolls VI is progressing, but there will be a long wait

For the first time in a while, Bethesda spoke to reporters about the status of The Elder Scrolls VI. Despite the headline, there was little concrete news, but the general direction became clearer.

The company confirmed that a significant portion of the team is indeed working on The Elder Scrolls VI, but that work is also underway on other projects. Bethesda continues to prioritize a protracted pre-production phase, preferring not to move into active production until the developers are completely satisfied with the concept. The studio emphasizes that rushing such a project is unacceptable, despite pressure from fans.

The developers also made it clear that they don't consider the long development time a problem and cite other major games that benefited from delays. They say the goal is to create a truly large-scale and modern installment in the series, demonstrating how far technology and the approach to RPG creation have advanced since previous installments.

From this, it follows that The Elder Scrolls VI is still in pre-production, meaning release is still years away. For now, Bethesda is asking for patience and assuring that the result will live up to expectations.
