Microsoft has permanently ended support for Forza Motorsport and is focusing on Forza Horizon 6
Microsoft has officially confirmed the end of active support for Forza Motorsport. The racing game will no longer receive updates, fresh content, or patches, but the server infrastructure will remain available to players. This decision seems logical given the extensive layoffs at Turn 10 Studios that took place this summer, affecting approximately half the team.
Simultaneously, it was announced that the remaining studio staff has been transferred to assist with the completion of Forza Horizon 6. The new installment in the arcade series is scheduled for release in 2026, and this project is now the primary focus of its resources. Current plans suggest that Forza Motorsport will never make it to PlayStation 5, despite the franchise's 20th anniversary, which it celebrated in 2025.

Forza Motorsport was released in 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X|S and was intended as a reboot of the series with a focus on modern simulation. However, the title failed to live up to expectations and received a lukewarm reception from both critics and casual gamers.
Against this backdrop, Forza Horizon continues to cement its status as one of Microsoft's key franchises. The fifth installment in the franchise received a PlayStation 5 version this spring and quickly became a top-selling title. Playground Games is leading production on the sixth installment, and the new racing festival will take place in Japan. Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled for release in 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with a PS5 version coming later.
