Vince Zampella, one of the most influential game designers in the history of video games and game director of Battlefield 6, has passed away at the age of 55. He died in a traffic accident near Los Angeles.


According to preliminary reports, a car carrying two people veered off the road and collided with a barrier. The driver died at the scene, and the passenger, Zampella, was taken to the hospital, where he died. Details of the accident have not yet been released.

Vince Zampella left a huge mark on the industry. His career began with his work on Medal of Honor, then he co-founded Infinity Ward and was instrumental in the development of Call of Duty, including the second installment and the first Modern Warfare games. These games largely defined the development of the first-person shooter genre.


Zampella later founded Respawn Entertainment, which developed Titanfall, Titanfall 2, Apex Legends, and the Star Wars Jedi duology. In recent years, he has also overseen the reboot of the Battlefield franchise, and his name has been associated with the successful launch of Battlefield 6.
