Five-star wanted level. Take-Two shut down the browser version of GTA: Vice City

The story of the browser version of GTA: Vice City proved short-lived. Take-Two Interactive's lawyers quickly intervened and secured the blocking of the project, developed by the Russian team Dos Zone, just a few days after it was released online.

The creators of the initiative reported that they had received an official notice demanding that access to their product be restricted. Thus, the publisher and franchise rights holder made it clear that they are not prepared to tolerate such experiments, despite the project's non-commercial nature.

At the same time, the Dos Zone team stated their intention not to abandon the project entirely. The developers plan to rework the browser version of Vice City to remove legal barriers and continue developing the idea in a modified format. They emphasize that the project is not technically pirated, as its launch requires proof of the availability of licensed distributions of the original title.

The developers also noted that they do not view the incident as a defeat. According to them, the buzz surrounding the browser version brought the team to the attention of many people around the world, and the project itself became a notable event in the community of fans of the classic Grand Theft Auto games.
