Treyarch has denied rumors of matchmaking improvements in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 for the holidays
The community has once again sparked a debate over the matchmaking system. Some players believe that Bo7's matchmaking was supposedly strengthened during the Christmas period to protect new players who received the game as a gift from overly experienced opponents. Fans believe this was intended to make the first few hours of play less painful for new players.

However, Treyarch representatives dismissed these speculations. Studio design director Matt Scrones stated that no changes were made to matchmaking and that the matchmaking system remained exactly the same as before the holidays. He also stated that talk of additional protection for new players is unfounded and untrue.
The theme of "Christmas noobs" has long been part of the series' lore. In previous years, late December was associated with an influx of inexperienced players, who were easy to encounter in matches. However, with the release of MW 2019 and the implementation of a more stringent SBMM, such situations have become rare, as the system tries to separate newcomers and veterans into different lobbies.
