A speedrunner has completed Super Meat Boy to 106% completion without a single death after hundreds of hours of practice

Amid talk of modern games becoming too easy to play, the community continues to prove that hardcore gaming remains in demand. In mid-December, a speedrunner named shredberg achieved a feat many considered nearly impossible, completing Super Meat Boy to 106% completion without a single death.

During a special stream, the player completed every level of the iconic platformer on his first try, finishing it in about two hours. This wasn't a shortcut, but a complete playthrough with all the extra content, where any mistake typically results in instant death. After the stream, shredberg explained that the path to this run took approximately 700-800 hours of preparation, and during his training, he died tens of thousands of times, honing every move to the point of automatism.

Super Meat Boy has long been a platform for him to experiment with the limits of difficulty. Back in the summer, he completed the game with all achievements in under an hour and a half, but it was his perfect run without a single death that attracted the attention of a wider audience. Edmund McMillen, the creator of the original game, also responded to the achievement, personally noting the fan's impressive result and congratulating him on his unique record.
