Insider: Xiaomi is preparing a fully autonomous smartphone on its own platform
According to insider Ice Universe, Xiaomi is developing a smartphone internally, which is expected to be a major step toward the company's technological independence. The device will allegedly feature three key elements of its own ecosystem: the proprietary XRING 02 processor, a custom operating system, and a local generative AI model. This approach is clearly reminiscent of Huawei's strategy to reduce its dependence on Western technologies.

The XRING 02 is reportedly planned to be manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process technology. Theoretically, the company could aim for 2nm to compete head-to-head with future solutions from Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung, and Apple. However, the high cost and expected shortages of the new process technology make such a move unrealistic at first.
Xiaomi is reportedly placing particular emphasis on software. The new smartphone is planned to feature its own operating system with a local generative AI model capable of running directly on the device without a constant network connection. It is not yet clear whether this will be a deeply redesigned Android or an entirely new OS.
It is also stated that the XRING 02 is intended as a universal solution not only for mobile devices but also for Xiaomi smart cars, which should further reduce the company's dependence on foreign suppliers.
