Rockstar Games wins first GTA VI leak case
The company has achieved preliminary success in its legal dispute with former employees it links to leaks of information about Grand Theft Auto VI. At the initial stage of the dispute, a British employment tribunal denied the plaintiffs temporary compensation, suspending any compensation until a final decision is reached.
According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the dispute erupted after the dismissal of 31 employees in the UK at the end of 2025. Those dismissed claimed that their attempts to form a union and collectively defend their interests were the reason. Rockstar, in response, claims that this was due to a breach of confidentiality and the dissemination of details about the title's development.

During the hearing, Rockstar stated that information about the project was published in Discord communities accessible to hundreds of users, including people outside the studio and members of the press. Judge Frances Eccles stated that at the current stage of the case, the plaintiffs lacked grounds to expect the dismissals to be declared unlawful. She also noted that some employees shared only a small amount of data, and some were not affiliated with the UK division or the union at all, so the final verdict could still change. Rockstar respected the court's decision, and the union intends to continue the case.
