The TV series' Kratos has been revealed: God of War's protagonist will be played by an actor already familiar with the game series
Casting for video game adaptations is almost always controversial, as fans' expectations rarely align with the producers' decisions. However, sometimes the casting is so precise that it surprises even the most skeptical viewers. This appears to be the case with the project based on the latest God of War installments.
According to Deadline, Ryan Hurst has been cast as Kratos in the upcoming adaptation. He's known to the general public for his roles in the series "Sons of Anarchy" and "Abandoned," but for fans of the game series, the choice is especially symbolic. The actor has previously been involved in the God of War universe, playing Thor in God of War Ragnarök, making his participation in the project a return of sorts, albeit in a completely different form.

The project is being developed by a team with impressive experience. Ronald D. Moore is the showrunner and head writer, and Fred Tua, known to audiences for other major projects, will direct the first two episodes. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios are producing, with participation from PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Despite the lack of a premiere date, the streaming service has already ordered two seasons.
