Sophie Turner as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider filming officially begins

Amazon has launched production on the series and simultaneously unveiled the debut promotional image, featuring Sophie Turner as the title character. This marks the first public reveal of the new adaptation of the legendary game series, which is being developed for Prime Video.

Several major teams are working on the series. The project is being developed for Amazon with the participation of Story Kitchen and Crystal Dynamics, and is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Jenny Robins. Waller-Bridge has taken on a key creative role as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, while Chad Hodge is co-creator. Jonathan Van Tulleken, who is also listed as a producer, is directing.

Sophie Turner has previously noted that she is seriously preparing for the role, focusing on physical training and immersing herself in the source material. The actress plays Tomb Raider and studies the franchise's comics, but she consciously avoids looking to previous film adaptations to develop her own vision of the character. The project's release date remains unknown.
